Another Reason to Get a Home Inspection – Fix Electrical Hazards

Mike Vakos, owner and lead home inspector of Tri-County Inspections, wants to remind buyers that if you waive the home inspection when making the offer it is still wise to get the home inspection before moving in.

A home inspection will inspect all the components that make up a home and point out where things may be compromising safety, contributing to a mold build-up or causing destruction. In this video Mike finds an open junction box for a fan in the attic. This is a common electrical hazard discovered in a home inspection. Most likely, a contractor or home owner installing a fan in the attic assumes that a covering isn't needed because it isn't in a visible area. Unfortunately this leaves wires exposed to the elements and can be a big fire hazard. Luckily we caught this in the home inspection so the buyer will add it to the top of the to-do list to make this home safe before moving in.  Another benefit of a home inspection - finding fire hazards to address in order to live in a safe home and reduce risks.
