Crawl Space Inspections: Nothing Will Scare Us Away

The Importance of Crawl Space Inspections

In a recent video, Mike Vakos from Tri County Inspections delves into the often overlooked but crucial aspect of home inspections: the crawl space inspection. While basements and slab foundations are more straightforward to assess, crawl spaces present unique challenges that require a trained eye and a willingness to get a little dirty.

The Unseen World Beneath Your Home

Mike begins by highlighting the differences between inspecting basements, slabs, and crawl spaces. Basements are easy to navigate, and slabs, though they require attention, don't involve going below grade. Crawl spaces, however, are a different story. They are often confined and cluttered with dirt floors, rust, and cobwebs, making them less appealing to inspect. Despite these conditions, Mike emphasizes that a thorough crawl space inspection is essential for uncovering issues that could affect the overall health of a home.

A Commitment to Thoroughness

With a touch of humor, Mike shares his experience of crawling into a crawl space, likening himself to a rat. This dedication to thoroughness is what sets Tri County Inspections apart. No matter how uninviting the a space may be, Mike and his team are committed to examining every nook and cranny to ensure their clients' homes are safe and sound. This includes looking for signs of moisture damage, pest infestations, structural issues, and more.

Why Crawl Space Inspections Matter

An inspection can reveal critical information about a home's condition. Issues detected in crawl spaces can range from minor repairs to major problems that, if left unaddressed, could lead to significant damage and costly repairs. By performing a comprehensive inspection, Mike and his team help homeowners avoid unpleasant surprises and make informed decisions about their properties.

Conclusion

In conclusion, Mike Vakos's video underscores the importance of not overlooking the crawl space during a home inspection. His willingness to tackle the less glamorous parts of a home ensures that clients receive a complete and accurate assessment. If you have a crawl space in your home, don't hesitate to reach out to Tri County Inspections for a detailed and professional inspection. As Mike says, getting dirty is all part of the job, and it's a small price to pay for peace of mind.

From Mike Vakos, owner and head home inspector:

"...hey guys Mike here with Tri County Inspections and in today's video real quick, I wanted to talk to you about a crawl space inspection. You may know basements are pretty easy obviously you can walk down and obviously slabs there's nothing to really inspect. I mean there is, but you're not going below grade. Then you have your crawl space which is always my favorite; that's actually a joke. So this is a little crawl space access here and I uh crawled down in it like a rat and uh I've taken a good look around. You know we're going to note some things, but I just wanted to let everyone know that this doesn't deter us from getting in here and getting dirty and crawling down into dirt floors, rust, or cobwebs. That's just what we do and that's why our clients pay us the money to look out for their best interest. If you need an inspection and you got a crawl space by all means give us a call, text, or hit us up online. I'm Mike with Tri County inspections and that's one more reason to get a home inspection. Thanks for watching and have a great day."
