Caught on Home Inspection: Improper Bathroom Fan Ventilation into Attic
Mike Vakos, owner and lead home inspector of Tri-County Inspections, is committed to educating home buyers and home owners about the many things that a home inspector covers. Typically a home inspection is done to inspect the quality of the home - the hundreds of components that make up a home, and it's the inspectors job to point out where things may need to be updated, repaired or replaced to keep a home maintained. While our home inspectors are on site they see a lot of common things that will be added to the report. The Tri-County Inspection YouTube channel will be devoted to sharing these things, so that you know what to expect at a home inspection, and why we recommend having a home inspection done when you purchase a home, immediately after purchasing the home or when you're thinking about selling a home (a pre-listing home inspection).
Improper Ventilation Will Cause Mold Build-Up
In this home inspection we were able to tell the buyers about an improper bathroom fan ventilation. This is a very common fan ventilation problem we find. Luckily it's a quick and inexpensive to fix. Because this attic ventilation issue was caught during the home inspection, repairing it early can keep them from dealing with mold build-up that was unavoidable in the current situation. Home inspections don't have to be scary - they are meant to be informative and designed to help buyers prioritize repairs and/or upgrades.
